Our Spotlight Initiatives

Education

We are committed to supporting education in Malawi through mentorship programs, scholarships for secondary and university students and school infrastructure projects. Education is at the heart of our mission and through our initiatives, we provide guidance, resources and opportunities for young learners to thrive.

From 2018, we have supported numerous students and schools through scholarships and development programs, empowering the next generation with the tools they need for success. A portion of every Orbis DMC trip goes directly to The Orbis Foundation, helping to fund these vital education projects.

Skills Exchange

The Women’s Partnerships Challenge brings together international women entrepreneurs and Malawian women business owners to foster mentorship, collaboration and growth. Through hands-on workshops and one-on-one mentoring, participants share knowledge, develop business skills and build lasting connections.

We have hosted skill-sharing workshops for 60 Malawian women entrepreneurs, empowering them with the tools and confidence to grow their businesses. A portion of every Orbis DMC trip supports the Orbis Foundation, funding mentorship programs and business development initiatives for women in Malawi.

Ecosystems

We are committed to using tourism as a force for good, directly supporting local communities in Malawi. Every Orbis DMC traveler contributes $35 per person to the community organization that hosts them, providing jobs, generating income and offering travelers an unforgettable, authentic experience.

Our ecotourism experiences range from half-day village visits to overnight stays in village-style accommodations. From 2014 till now we have contributed over $20,000 to communities through sustainable tourism initiatives, helping to create lasting economic opportunities.

Conservation Awareness

We are dedicated to connecting you with the most impactful local conservation projects during your time in Malawi. A great way to start is by offsetting your flight—since 2020, we’ve partnered with Zomba TREEZ, a Zomba-based initiative led by our friends at Zomba Forest Lodge. TREEZ focuses on education and community-driven action to combat deforestation and the harmful effects of burning around the Zomba Forest Reserve.
