This expedition is packed full of incredible journeys through history. Taking in the ancient city of Jerash, hiking at Petra, visit to Wadi Rum and the old city of Ammam. As every good Orbis Impact Expedition aims to do we have also woven in some time with local families on a homestay and ensured your accommodation is a real mix to give you that local flavour and to try and increase your impact during your time in Jordan. We have added an incredible end to your trip with a day spent at The Dead Sea.

We try our best to include everything for your time in Jordan. The cost of the Social Impact Journey is £1,360 which includes all transport and guiding in Jordan, meals (where stated Half Board (HB), Full Board (FB). Bed and Breakfast (BB)), accommodation, activities (where stated)
Your group size will be between 7-20 people.
International flights, drinks, visas, tips and items of a personal nature are excluded.

Flights: We are ATOL registered so can book your flights for you. If you would like to book your own flights but just need some advice regarding routes then do let us know.
Day 1: Arrive in Amman Airport where you will meet your local guide and travel 45 mins to your hotel in Amman. Amman is one of the oldest cities in the world, inhabited since the bronze age. The city is growing into a modern city, but retains its character and history. The Art Hotel (HB)
Day 2: After breakfast head north to walk through history in one of the most important and best preserved Roman cities in the Middle East, Jerash. Drive to Ajloun and visit the castle, dominating the Ajloun skyline and built to ward off the Crusader armies at the key trade and pilgrimage intersection between Jerusalem, Cairo, Damascus and Mecca. Join a local family for a traditional cooking lesson and experience Jordanian hospitality in this overnight homestay. (HB)
Day 3: You will start the day with short transfer to Bergesh Forest and then will head east down the forested Wadi Zubia passing a cave spring and more ruins. We will continue to the Qabla ruins where we can see remains of houses, caves, and quarries. Visit Ajloun Reserve and participate in the local activities offered before returning to you family homestay in Ajloun. (HB)
Day 4: After breakfast, you start the journey to the south and drive towards Little Petra. Our hosts in Little Petra will showcase different aspects of Jordanian culture allowing you to experience the authentic bedouin hospitality and learn how to make coffee, eye kohl and Bedouin bread. Driving distance from Ajloun onto Little Petra takes around 4 Hours. Overnight Little Petra Bedouin Camp. (HB)
Day 5: After breakfast it's time to start your hike. Enter Petra via ‘The Back Door’. Good tracks go pleasantly down Wadi Ghurab amidst sandstone mountains guarding the approaches to Petra. This way follows a Nabataean route out of the valley and skirting round the final mountain on anatural rock terrace which has been ‘improved’ for the safety of walkers. Just beyond, carved into the cliff face, ‘The Monastery’suddenly comes into view, where there is a Bedouin café for refreshments. Nabataean steps then lead down into ancient Petra. Stay at Petra Palace (HB)
Day 6: On the next day we enter Petra on another path from Um Sayhoun to the Petra Church. We cross the Colonnaded Street in the Ancient Roman City to Wadi Farasa passing many sites including the Renaissance Tomb, the Soldier Tomb, and climb up to Jabal al-Madhbah (the High Place of sacrifice) with sweeping views of the Royal Tombs. From there we head on the Madras Trail tucked into the hills south of the Siq arriving near the Obelisk Tomb. Finish the hike at the Petra Visitors Center. Transfer to Wadi Rum, enjoy the Hospitality of the bedouins. Overnight in Wadi Rum (HB)
Day 7: After breakfast you will leave the Camp by Jeep driving South through fantastic scenery to the foot of the mountain. The drive is about 1.20 hour. Um Ad Dami, at more than 1,800 metres is the highest peak in Jordan, offering you a whole new perspective of the desert from its summit. To the South you can see the border to Saudi Arabia, to the North - Jebel Rum (next to Rum village). According to your ability climbing to the summit and back to the desert floor takes approximately three hours. Overnight in Wadi Rum (HB)
Day 8: After breakfast, head north to the lowest point on earth, the Dead Sea. Time to float in the salty water, relax by the pool, enjoy the sunshine and views while trying out the invigorating mud bath to cleanse the skin, and experience the various treatments in the spa (book separately). Overnight at the Holiday Inn Dead Sea (HB). Drive from Wadi Rum to the Dead Sea through Aqaba take appx. 4 hours.
Day 9: Depart for International Flight (45 mins)
